Drosera binata var. dichotoma
sundew
Description
Drosera binata var. dichotoma is a particularly attractive form of the forked sundew, native to Australia and New Zealand. This carnivorous plant produces long, upright leaf stalks with characteristically branched leaves, usually dividing into four to eight slender tips. The leaves are covered with numerous glistening, sticky glands that attract, capture and digest small insects. In strong sunlight, the trapping glands can develop beautiful reddish tones. Delicate white flowers appear on long flower stalks in summer. An unusual botanical specimen for bog gardens and container cultivation.
