Description

Araucaria heterophylla, commonly known as Norfolk Island Pine, is an elegant evergreen conifer native to Norfolk Island in the South Pacific. It is renowned for its distinctive, symmetrical growth and regularly arranged horizontal branches, giving the tree an attractive, tiered appearance. In its natural habitat, it can grow into a magnificent tree of more than 50 metres in height. When grown in containers, it remains considerably smaller and makes an attractive ornamental plant for bright interiors, conservatories, balconies and terraces. Sowing: Sow the seeds as fresh as possible, as they lose their germination capacity relatively quickly. Cover the seeds only lightly with a well-drained growing medium and keep evenly moist. A temperature of around 20–25 °C and a bright location encourage germination. Avoid waterlogging. Position: Bright to sunny, warm and sheltered. Protect from frost and overwinter indoors or in a frost-free location.
